Muncie Ind Mch 12— '16 Dear Uncle — Your most welcome letter came a few days ago, and I will try and answer it. We certainly did enjoy your letter about drilling for oil fifty years ago and the account of Morgan's raid and etc. Father has told me so many times about the Morgan raid and he took Mike and Pet and hid them in the woods for several days. Those old couplings on the long shafts of wood for drilling. I got some fun out of On Christmas day. I would fill the piece of iron that had the hole in with powder and tamping lightly with sand and connecting fuse. I would hide behind an old stump while it would explode and throw a piece of iron. A pound or more in weight, one hundred to two hundred feet in the air, so you see I got some fun out of those old oil tools. This leaves us all fairly well now. We nearly all had severe cases of Grippe. Glenn, Pneumonia, and Grandpa Randall had a pretty close call. All better now, but week ago to day Marie was in auto wreck in which the car she was in was pretty well smashed up. Mary thrown out on pavement and head bruised and a bad nervous shock, but we are thankful to say she is getting alright now. Was a wonder they were not all killed. Three others in car and pretty badly bruised collided with big auto truck going thirty miles an hour at street crossing. I just rec'd a card from father saying they are both pretty well for them. The were over here to see us last fall and spent several days. Father got quite sick on train over here. Nellie's father lives with us. There has been such a change. If you have copy of Morgan County Democrat would be pleased to get one. Able to go out much and he reads nearly all the time. Now Uncle when the weather gets nice we would be so glad to have you come and spend a few days with us. Was surprised to hear of Emma Pierpoint's death. We are all busy and getting along fine. Glenn and Clair work at same place. Glenn, secretary, and Clair, shipping clerk. Frank in High School. Ralph and Marie enjoy their school work. Please write again uncle if you think this work answering. Your well wishing nephew Alva E Lambert
