Context

[Box 219, Athens, OH, to Miss Bertha E. Lambert, In care of Y.M.C.A. Camp, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, written on a statement of R. C. M. Hastings, Dr., Dealer in General Merchandise, Chauncey, O.; Enclosure: Card with name Mr. William A. Hardinger] Chauncey, O., July 10 1897 My Dear Bertha Your letter just rec'd this A.M. I will have no chance to write until tomorrow which would be too late to reach you. I quit work long enough to write this. Just use your own judgement about your work. I cannot work much today as I have a felon on next to little finger on right hand. Suppose I will have to quit entirely. Do not worry, all is well. I will speak at Union Chapel tomorrow and may go home Monday if this does not get better. Will write again as soon as I hear from you. Your letter was a sweet message. I dare not write longer as I am overseeing a little work for C. W. I beg pardon for this little note, but you prefer this to nothing of course. You may address me at Athens. At the counter with lots of people looking on. Your Love J. H. Harris
