[From R. B. Lambert to Oscar A. Lambert when Oscar was in France.] Chester Hill Ohio August 17—18 My very dear boy O A Lambert yesterday we received your letter while in England to say we were glad does not express it for it was the first we had since leaving Ny the Ockmulgee paper also said you had arrived safely we were so glad and now when you get to Paris and settled in one place please write us often as circumstances will permit we are mutch encouraged over the war and are so glad the germans are being drove back but I yet have great fears of the many complications that are liable to come but hope for the best we are so far as health is concerned about as you left us only we are passing through one of the most severe drought and hot weather that we ever had all vegitables is dried up corn is all most a failure in our place beans and garden dried up got a letter from E J he had from Mexico herd of an oil strike run down to see the situation did not think mutch of it was on his way home to Tuley Chalk reports all well and good crops corn above an average crop no letter arives but enquires after you So you may know that you are in the minds I intend to have you letters that we get thate are printable put in the Morgan Co paper Well mother has been writing you so I will close hopeing you will suceed and do lots of good and return to us Safely with Love I am R B.
