Context

Miami Fla 8 '34 My Dear, Dear Sister; When you left us I hoped that before you left the state I could send you money enough to come down for a few days together again, but we must forego that pleasure but I want you to know that the happy days we spent together are a cherished memory. Should any chance to inquire about us just say we have nothing to boast of, little to complain of, and much to be thankful for. Many things have changed since you were here. Over 100 new houses going up on the beach. Over $4,000,000 worth in the whole city. Many sales, but prices still too low. A few days ago the new Beach homes averaged 14000 each. A N.Y. woman bought 3 for 100 000 this week. A Federal Committee was entertained at the Biltmore one evening this week. One asked is this air conditioned? Did you notice that Emporia Kan has had 100 or over every day for a month! Neighbors are afraid Jackson's are going to lose their home. Bad title. Too bad! for he told us their house had been robbed 3 times and they had been in 4 bank failures (or else 3 bank failures and 4 burglaries). I hope they will escape this time. (I would not tell their friends up there.) I think it was not all here. If you see some of the folks when you get back tell us the news. O, I do hope all goes for the best and that the way will open up to better things than we know or can plan. How often we look back and realize it did. We are well as common and so very grateful for our cool weather. I suppose you've had it much warmer. Our sea breeze and one or maybe a few 93 but never long at that. I do think Richard is as careful a driver as I ever saw and there will not be crowds in Aug so hope all goes well. Love So much love to all Ida. I enclose list of sales published 3 or 4 times a week since Feb. Marked ones near us.
