Context

Plantsville O., Nov. 19, '94 Mr. Harris Belpre O. Dear Friend:-- Your welcome letter was received this evening and read with interest.  I will answer immediately as you will perhaps not get it unless I do. I am still blessed with life and health for which I am very thankful.  I am still continuing in that "noblest of arts and sorriest of trades."  I had no vacation between the fall and winter terms so this is the second week of the winter term. Seven more boys started at the beginning of this term which makes quite a large school. By hard persuasion, I succeeded in getting all of them to join our literary society.  I now have thirty-two pupils enrolled and find plenty to keep me busy. You have surely had some bad weather for your work, hope you will have it pleasanter this week. I indeed felt somewhat surprised to know the kind of amusement you were attending, but presume you did not discommode yourself to attend. I am still at Alva's and will be pleased to see you any time, and wish it was convenient for you to stay for our thanksgiving service, but I know you are anxious to enter school, and I do not wish to hinder you in any way. Please excuse this short letter tonight as it is late.  Hoping to see you soon and praying that God may keep you, I remain, Your friend Bertha Lambert
