Dear Paul,
Just so sorry to hear about Midway closing. I know you must be going through some very trying times but let's hope the future holds much happiness and good health!
My son there in Clarendon Hills is also going through some very anxious moments. His recent marriage has also failed. These are days that are hard on everyone. I often wonder how long it will take to get the country rolling again.
Hope you enjoyed seeing the picture of one of your grandparents. I received a card from Barb Harris but she just signed her name. Guess that's why it takes me so long to do mine — I usually include a few lines.
If all goes according to plans, we will leave here the end of Jan. for Florida. Will be back April 1st. The same lady will be staying with mom.
My brother, Walt, who is 78, is in critical condition in Lansing hospital with cancer of the liver and complications. This is very hard on my mother — especially being her son.
Snow gently covered the ground yesterday. Suppose [sic] to have a warming trend in a couple of days.
We don't have our tree up yet — will do that this week.
I'm nursing a cold and a very sore throat, which I've had for a couple of days. I'll stay inside until I'm better.
Four of our children will be home throughout the holidays but we'll probably be alone Xmas Day. Jim decided to wait until Jan. — says it will break up the long winter months. He was home for a visit in Sept. We'll see Bob's daughter, Kathy, on our way to Florida.
We don't try to buy gifts — just give money — unless they tell us definitely what they want.
Guess I better stop and get at my chores. My maid is on a permanent vacation! Ha.
Think of you often and may your hopes and dreams become a reality in the new year.
Much affection,
Cousin Gen & Bob
&
Grandma Ellis
