Context

[Believed to be 10 MAY 1933 because of same events in a letter on that date from Joseph Hastings Harris to his family and May 10th falling on a Wednesday in that year.] THIRTY-FIRST GENERAL CONFERENCE Church of the UNITED BRETHREN IN CHRIST First U.B. Church Union Street and Hastings Place Akron, Ohio Wednesday Dear Mother:- While they are reading some dry reports in this session, I will write a few lines. Tell Paul that Patsy met us this morning and dad and I took her to dinner with us. She looks unusually well and told me to send her love to daddy and grandma & Uncle Dick. Tonight I am to go out to Bender's and stay. This group of men at the conference is a very dignified and "formidable" looking body and looks as tho' they mean business. Dad gave the Seminary report this afternoon and it was accepted. Will know more about what the conference will do later, but think they will "hold the fort." Will write more later. With Love, James Expect 150-200 at Otterbein Banquet tonight. Other colleges having theirs too.
