Dear Malcolm,
Thank you for your Christmas note from Florida. I trust that you had a pleasant visit with your daughter and her family. My fear is that this letter finds you back at home in the frigid north.
In the process of "organizing" I have found and transcribed a letter written by your mother to my grandmother, Bertha Lambert Harris. I am enclosing a copy of the transcript and am sending one to Stephen and Margaret as well. I don't feel comfortable
sending the original through the mail and would like your input as to where you think it should be placed for most effective preservation. I believe I may have a couple of other letters written by your mother and will forward them as I come upon them in the same manner. Please share your thoughts on this with me.
I am also enclosing the additional pages of Bertha Lambert's autobiography that were discovered this last summer. You should be able to install them at the rear of the booklet I sent you. You will note that these pages are footnoted for the unfamiliar reader. Eventually, I will do this with the entire story as well as index it for publication.
Do you have a copy of Eliza Rebecca Lambert Hopkins‘ story "Apple Blossoms?" She wrote it for her fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1938. It contains a marvelous section where she talks about her grandmother, Elizabeth Stanton Lambert. Let me know if you have not seen this and I will send it to you.
I must also mention that I had a conflict with your information concerning Daniel Webster Lambert's death. Some old copies of family group charts you did listed his death as 10 Jan 1918. I have obtained a copy of his death certificate which lists his date of death as 5 Jan 1918 and date of burial as 8 Jan 1918. Cemetery records at Otterbein verify the burial date as 8 Jan 1918 and an obituary in the "Telescope" verifies the date of death as 5 Jan 1918. You may already be aware of this and the chart I have was before your correction, but I wanted to pass this information along to you.
I must arrange a visit with you soon.
Sincerely,
