Items in this collection were either created or collected by Mary Mowbray-Clarke. Upon her death, Janet Newman - her neighbor - salvaged materials from Mary's home. In the 1990s, Janet became the Recording Secretary for the Friends of the Dutch Garden - an organization that helped restore the Gardens after years of vandalism and neglect. Once Janet passed, her estate was controlled in part by her son, Paul Newman.
