Description

Bellows for foghorn. A noise signal (before electric equipment) used to warn ships when they were coming too close to land in thick fog. some hand held- making use of the bellows that took in air and pushed it out through a loud horn used also to direct the ships that came to close to land which way to turn, a certain number of blows would indicate to the ship to turn a certain way to avoid crashing
