Description

A wooden spoon incased in a glass frame with wood around it. Inside the case is a mounted wooden spoon, an image of the Mary W. Somers, and a small exert, which reads: This spoon was carved from the bowsprit of The Mary W. Somers, a Chesapeake Bay Skipjack built by William T. Young in Parksley, Va 1904. This Skipjack has been on the National Historical Register since October 8, 1976. D. Edwards Smith of Edwards fine Woodworking carved the spoon in June 2007.
