David Lono Crowningburg Mr. Crowningburg was a widower, native of Maui, and 80 years old. He was well known all over the Territory, being for many years a luna (boss) in road construction. Birth Apr 1839 Makawao, Maui County, Hawaii, USA Death 20 May 1919 (aged 80) John Richardson John Richardson was born on 15 Dec. 1853 in Waikapu, Maui and was raised by Maui Sheriff Thomas Everett and his wife. He was admitted to the Hawaiian bar at a young age and became a prominent attorney in the Maui courts. He served in both houses of the legislature. After the January 1893 overthrow, Richardson became a Wailuku delegate of the anti-annexation organization Ka Hui Hawaiʻi Aloha ʻĀina. In February of 1897, he was sent by that organization, along with James Kaulia, David Kalauokalani, and William Auld, to Washington as Royal Commissioners to present anti-annexation petitions to the US Congress and "preserve and maintain, by all legal and peaceful means and measures, the Independent autonomy of the islands of Hawaii nei."
