Lisa McCarthy’s studio practice utilizes the languages of painting, drawing, and sculpture to fluidly move between styles, materials, and processes. At first glance, Injury Report presents a chaotic table scene. In the lower half of the composition, a glass of wine spills off of a blue tabletop onto the floor while abstract figures dance in motion above. Layering Mylar on top of paper, McCarthy creates depth and a compelling range of color for her subjects—including an alligator, a martini glass, and a dinner plate—which come together in a scene that teeters pleasantly between celebration and mayhem.
This work of art is a part of the HCC Permanent Art Collection. The HCC Art Galleries, through their Campus Loan Outreach Program, seek to share original art by collecting a diversity of works for the education and enjoyment of the HCC Community.
