A lone dragonfly is surrounded by swirling leaves in this composition of purple, teal and green with details of black lace. Does this dragonfly live in a fanciful meadow of purple skies and green grass? Does the composition show the perspective of the artist or of the dragonfly? It calls humans to return to nature indicated by the contrast, or perhaps co-existence, of manufactured lace and natural leaves. The artist herself was passionate about gardening, and frequently looked toward nature for inspiration in her later works.
