Jerry Meatyard was one of the founding faculty members of the art department at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa and taught sculpture there from 1970-1990. He is most well known for his public art sculptures. His monumental sculpture, "Future Walk" was installed on HCC’s Ybor campus for about two decades, and his legacy continues to live on through the establishment of Meatyard Ybor, a warehouse of affordable artist studios.
