Jeanne Cameron (1956-2020) Contemplation, 2008-09 oil painting 52 x 52 in. Purchase by the HCC Ybor City Campus, 2021.22.1 By combining traditional and digital media, Jeanne Cameron connected design principles such as unity and balance to her own views on nature and spirituality. Contemplation’s repeating geometric patterns open up on a central window of ripening green fruit set against a brilliant blue sky. The contrast between the precision of geometric patterns and the fluidity of organic shapes suggests a harmony between humanity and nature and encourages the viewer to consider their own place in the universe. Contemplation, aptly titled, provides just that—an opportunity to quietly pause and reflect upon the myriad patterns that exist both around and within us. This work of art is a part of the HCC Permanent Art Collection. The HCC Art Galleries, through their Campus Loan Outreach Program, seek to share original art by collecting a diversity of works for the education and enjoyment of the HCC Community.
