Inspired by the human conception and experience of space-time, Nathan Beard’s complex, multi-layered surfaces create a sense of movement with organic patterns and variegated color relationships.
With his Exit Music series, Beard imagines exit music as a metaphor for transition and the complicated and often contradictory feelings that exiting or “the end” conjures. The S-shaped gesture found in Exit Music #46 (Slow Down) evokes the march of time and infinity, and is a visual representation of the energies at work forming and reforming all we see and experience.
