Marjorie Greene’s process has included painting and drawing with an emphasis on mark making and a devotion to printmaking. Her imagery draws on nature in a graphic, simplified way – “yearning for an ideal place, a moment of calm and reverie.” She looks east to the great Japanese block printers for inspiration and her preferred medium is relief block printing. She uses Japanese Shina wood or simple MDF and prints on handmade papers, with a deckled edge. Color is a key element in her work. Greene teaches printmaking at St. Petersburg College. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from Philadelphia College of Art. She has been included in invitational shows at Leepa Ratner Museum of Art and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has had solo shows in St. Petersburg at St. Petersburg Little Theater and American Stage Theater.
