Lászlo Hórváth Reflection (Hillsborough River), 2013 Digital Photograph 30 x 40 in. 2021.6.4 Lászlo Hórváth has created numerous images depicting nature and wildlife along the Hillsborough River. In this scene, light reflects onto the water’s surface, capturing dark silhouettes of trees that line the edges of the riverbank. The river is integral to the region, beginning Pasco and Polk Counties and flowing southwest for nearly 54 miles. Hillsborough River is an important natural resource, supplying a significant number of the region’s residents with water while also supporting diverse wildlife. The “upper” Hillsborough River is recognized worldwide as a significant wildlife refuge that is home to many species that cannot be found in any other place. Hórváth’s photograph captures a sense of the river’s essence, encouraging viewers to consider its importance as well as imbuing the landscape with wonder. This work of art is a part of the HCC Permanent Art Collection. The HCC Art Galleries, through their Campus Loan Outreach Program, seek to share original art by collecting a diversity of works for the education and enjoyment of the HCC Community.
