David Briand is a self-taught painter who combines repurposed material such as wood, paper, and blueprints to create rich, dimensional surfaces for his luminous, “conceptual landscapes.” Briand, who lives in Clearwater Beach, Florida, has a great appreciation for nature and a love of landscape, preferring to work outdoors for the natural light and energy. Briand’s artistic influences include the Impressionists, specifically Vincent van Gogh for his dramatic brushwork and the fury with which he attacked a canvas, and British artist William Turner for his treatment of light and the abstraction of atmosphere. Since 2006, Briand has exhibited in various regional art galleries and art venues, including Art Harvest in Dunedin and Mayfair by the Lake in Lakeland. His paintings are included in many Tampa Bay area private and corporate collections.
