Katherine Moyse (b. 1952 – d. 2017) Untitled, date unknown mixed media on board 24 x 24 in. Gift of Erin Moyse Shoos, 2021.9.1 Katherine Moyse was a faculty member at HCC Ybor Campus for over 30 years. She often experimented with combinations of materials and techniques, creating images that incorporated materials such as wood and other found objects. In this untitled artwork, a woman draped in a flowing cloth emerges from the center of the composition, her left arm stretching outward to the viewer’s right, and her gaze fixed on something that is just out of the frame. Hazy applications of warm hues such as yellow and red create an indeterminate and atmospheric environment with flowing pools of pigment, suggesting a psychological or emotional dimension. This work of art is a part of the HCC Permanent Art Collection. The HCC Art Galleries, through their Campus Loan Outreach Program, seek to share original art by collecting a diversity of works for the education and enjoyment of the HCC Community.
