Description

A royal lion, statant guardant, head to left, above a bar on which is mounted THE KING'S OWN, all in brass. Two pillars to reverse.

Use

This infantry unit was raised in 1680 and subsequently served in many British Army campaigns during its long history, including: War of the Spanish Succession War of the Austrian Succession Crimean War First World War Second World War Post-World War II The regiment was involved in peacekeeping duties in Korea and Hong Kong, and was presented with the Freedom of the City of Lancaster in 1953. In 1959, it was amalgamated with The Border Regiment to form The King’s Own Royal Border Regiment.
