Description

Sweetheart souvenir of the Rising Sun badge. An imprint of the badge has been painted gold against an aqua blue background. The badge has then been covered with clear resin, and unlike other sweetheart badges of similar design, it has been set in three clasps.

Use

"Sweetheart" jewellery was often worn by female relatives, or a girlfriend or wife. These brooches were a symbol of pride, support and affection for a loved one serving in the armed forces. They could be purchased by the women themselves or given as a gift by the serviceman concerned.
