St. Barnabas Hospital School of Nursing students listened to records and danced in the lounge of the Knickerbacker Dormitory. St. Barnabas Hospital was founded as Cottage Hospital in 1870, the first hospital in Minneapolis. St. Barnabas hospital merged with The Swedish Hospital in 1971 to become Metropolitan Medical Center. That institution closed in 1991. Hennepin Healthcare now occupies the buildings.
