Description

An entirely delightful tiny, home-made dado plane.

Use

Cutting a 1/4 inch wide and 1/4 inch deep dado into the surface of a board. Likely for the carcass of a miniature set of shelves or chest of drawers.

Context

The main blade has been ground from a blade for a larger rebate plane. It is set straight across to avoid the extra complexity of skewing it. The front blade, the nickers, has been ground from a tiny 1/4 inch chisel, and is wedged with an old square cut nail. The body is cleanly shaped and the shaving escape hole very cleanly cut
