The label on the barrel reads " This barrel belonged to Mr. Ganner, one of the men of the trail of '98. He did find gold. He was a miner, prospector and farmer at Retreat Cove, Galiano Island. There is a creek named for him. His 160 acre farm, known a s Evergreen Farm was sold to McClures in Mar. 1914. They lived there till Nov. 1919."
