Dark stained wooden folding chair circa 1887, also referred to as a nursing chair.Context
This chair was given by Rev. George Gomme to his bride Ellen Page Gomme on the first birthday after they were married in England in 1887. Ellen nursed her five children on the chair. It remained in the family until the last surviving child died in 1997, and it was donated to Saanich Historical Artifacts Society.
