Description

Brandt Automatic Cashier

Use

Brandt Automatic Cashiers were manufactured beginning in 1899 by the Edward J. Brandt-Dent Company, Waterford, Wisconsin. Brandt, a cashier at the Bank of Watertown apparently became annoyed at perpetually sorting and counting change while preparing the payroll for the railroad. His invention eliminates this problem, producing exact change with the fewest amount of coins necessary. https://exhibit.postalhistoryfoundation.org/audio/brandt/
