Context

John and Oliver McClary began operating as J & O McClary 1 Jan. 1852 in London Ontario. In 1871 they created a limited liability company, McClary Manufacturing to produce stoves and other ironware and machinery. They expanded, established warehouses in Toronto and Montreal (1879), Winnipeg (1880), Vancouver (1894), Saint John (1901), and Hamilton (1902) and by 1884 they were shipping their products overseas.
