Wheeler & Wilson portable, belt driven sewing machine manufactured in 1851.

Context

The Wheeler & Wilson was the first light weight sewing machine for home use. Inventor Allen B Wilson designed three important new features: a rotary hook with lock stitch mechanism; a stationary circular bobbin; and four motion cloth feed.
