Cleanliness

There is some dust and dirt on the exterior container; object itself was cleaned off (dusted with a microfibre cloth) to remove dust, mouse droppings.

Materials

Map is made of a light canvas material, with two wooden rods on either end. Attached to the top wooden rod, there is a long rope (1/4 inch) indicating the intention of hanging the piece.

Notes

There are two notable holes where mice/ other pests have been able to chew through. The edges are very worn, there is notable fading of the colour, there are two areas where the top surface of the map has worn away either due to poor storage or pests.

Recommendations

Temporary storage improvements have been made, but map should be stored with tissue wrapped into the map, and a large archival grade wrap put around it. It should be stored indoors in a temperature controlled area, in a space that is less suitable for pests.
