Description

001 - Connecting rod 002 - Connecting rod 003 - Associated piece of connecting rod 004 - Associated piece of connecting rod There are four pieces in total. All are cylindrical in shape. They are very rusty as they have been sitting outside for many years. See drawing in book. History: Mr Lennan believes these are two connecting rods used to assist in the turning of the main paddle wheel on a sternwheeler. He believes they are from the Mount Royal as they were found in Kitselas Canyon, where the Mount Royal met its demise. Three men carried these pieces out of the canyon. Their names were Ron Kolterman, Bob Ramsey and Harold W Smith. Ron Kolterman was the man who originally found the pieces. They hiked them out of the Canyon a distance of about one kilometre, which is fairly impressive as they weight about 250 pounds a piece. They were taken from Kitselas Canyon about ten years ago. Currently looking for blueprints to exemplify and illustrate how the parts would have been used on the boat.
