Description

Belonged to Abner Howe. From 1885. Contains lithographs and marriage certificates.

Context

Came from farmhouse on land north of present Caledonia senior secondary school. Donor's mom, Olga Penner, was picking potatoes in a form in late 1960s. Howe house was being emptied, and the Bible was in a pile to be put on a bonfire. Olga asked if she could buy it. All she had was $1, but the men emptying the house agreed. She passed it down to Mary, who remembers seeing the Howe family when she was a little girl - specifically Mr Howe, who had "snow white" hair.
