Description

This is a Konzert‌zither, or "Concert Zither." Zithers originated from countries such as Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, France, South Germany, and other European counties. This Zither is from Germany. The Zither was introduced to North America in the early 19th century.

Use

The Zither has five melody strings that are fretted, accompaniment strings above that, bass strings, and then lastly contrabass strings.

Context

This Zither was likely brought from Germany to the area and used in the Terrace area. It was bought for the museum from the local Antiques and Oddities shop owned by Debbie Letawski. Says “A. Knoblauch” on the front, believe this could be name of original owner over the brand name.
