Description

The Aircraft Warning Service (AWS) was a civilian service of the United States Army Ground Observer Corps instated during World War II to keep watch for enemy planes entering American airspace. This arm band and lapel pin belonged to Mary Murphy ( Messenger) of Cambridge, NY who volunteered to act as a spotter for enemy aircraft. Also included is an obituary for Mary.
