Civil War Letters Of Henry WelchEntry/Object ID
1644Description
A collection of 67 letters written by Henry Welch, a Hebron native, between 1862 and 1865 belongs to Mr. Roger Harris of Rutland, VT. Mr. Harris lent the collection to the author in 1993 for study and transcription. Mr. Harold Craig of North Hebron, NY identified many persons mentioned in the letters, and the late Julia M Hicks Carson provided photographs of her great grandparents, Luther and Phebe Tanner Welch.
In the style of the day, Henry Welch tended to run his sentences together without punctuation. The author added capitalization and punctuation where needed to improve clarity. The letters are transcribed verbatim.Publication Details
