Description

The 1757 siege and surrender of Fort William Henry, followed by the capture and massacre of many of the surviving British soldiers and colonial militia by the Indian allies of the French, was part of the extensive struggle between the French and British known as the French and Indian War. Some of the most savage fighting took place within a 64-mile corridor along Lake George and Lake Champlain. This battle is dramatized in "The Last of the Mohicans".
