1775 describes, month by month, what happened in the colony of Virginia, and especially in Williamsburg, its administrative capital during that critical year which led up to foreshadowed the revolt of the 13 colonies and the American Way of Independence. The outcome, the author argues, might have been very different if the Southern colonies had not played their part, and Virginia, of course, was not only the largest and most populous of the, but would provide, in George Washington, the revolution's military leader as well as in Thomas Jefferson one of its most eloquent voices.
