Shays' Rebellion: 1786-7: Americans Take Up Arms Against Unjust Laws.Entry/Object ID
04.39.1Description
Farmer-veterans of the American Revolution took up arms again in Massachusetts in order to protest laws in their state that make a mockery of their sacrifices for freedom. They were outraged at legislation, particularly taxation, that discriminated against the hard-pressed laborers and favored the property-owners who had stayed at home during the war for freedom and from tyranny and unjust taxation.
