From Gedney Howe III to Kevin Eberle, 9/27/2012, re: sign on tree: I remember the sign very clearly as a young man. My recollection is that there was a statement on the sign about being a “boys club” that met regularly at “The Tree”. Then there was a list of the members of the club. I remember my Uncle Arthur Howe was on that list and I believe so was Bill Morrison. Since my Uncle Arthur is deceased, I am enclosing the address and phone number of his wife, Bruce Howe, who may have some ideas for you as to what the sign said or whose name was on it. I am also enclosing contact information for Carl Boone who might have some information for you and Mark Hayne, who lived in the neighborhood and I am sure would remember the sign. I hope this is of some help to you.
Scan provided via email on July 8, 2005, by Kevin Eberle, for use in HCF's Archives. He has been collecting photos from different people as he has researched the histories of the individual houses. He has tracked down children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of early owners in this search for photos and has been scanning them for the neighborhood archives.Created By
