Description

Old YMCA Building at 208 King Street, a 3-story Victorian brick building in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, showing the roof of the turret and peak of the gabled roof, which were removed in the 20th century. Glass windows, which were later infilled, are also present. Storefront windows display the names of the shops on the ground story. At the center is Ledford(?) & Donnelly Bicycles. To its right is a "Pianos" and "Organs" shop. "Young Women's Christian Association" can be seen in the carved relief work at the base of the engaged turret. Immediately to the left of the building (210 King Street?) is the Southern Pressing Club (sign), with "Saloon and Bath Club" (parts of name illegible) carved into the facade of the building, which has a 3 bay semicircular parapet. Two men stand outside the entrance; a barber pole can also be seen at the entrance. Donkey cart on street, lower right corner of photo.
