PRICESALL.009.1Scope and Content
Originally built to serve as the garden house for the Walter Webb House at 46 King Street. It served as a guest house in the 1930's and 40's, its most famous guest possibly being Eleanor Roosevelt. (Source: FOH House History.) Constructed in the 20th century, it is an excellent example of modern adaptation of the traditional single house form. The architect, W.G. Clark, won regional and national awards for the design. The two stories of glass resemble the two-story piazza of the Charleston single house. This house provides an impressive lesson in the blending and merger of "old" and "new." (Source: 2011 Tour Guide Manual)
