LAURENS.048.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1814-16; rehabilitated 1961; addition 1988. A French merchant and consul built this 3-story, hipped-roof dwelling on lands obtained from the estate of Christopher Gadsden in 1807. The house retains its simple Neoclassical detailing with the exception of the Greek Revival doorway in the piazza screen. Most of its simple woodwork survives in its interior. The expansive corner lot provides a notable walled garden. Visible from the Alexander Street elevation is a contemporary classical addition.

Hi April,
Thank you so much for helping with the wallpaper search! Attached are the two pieces that are believed to have been in the house - the wallpaper with the cobalt blue background (the first attachment) is part of the paper that Susan matched to the stairway and the paper with the swags may have come from the parlor. I will keep fingers crossed that Minh will have some thoughts about where these papers might be located. I truly appreciate your help with this rather strange situation - if you have any questions, please just let me know.
Juliana
