Constructed ca.1848 by one of Charleston's most prominent citizens, Edward McCrady, descendant of an 18th century tavern owner, who erected this flat-roofed brick house as his residence. Set back from the street, the house lost its 19th century parterre in the 1960s. File contains: FOHG house histories (1997 and undated); pages from book (source unidentified) about the garden at 30 Anson Street; newspaper article dated 10/8/1990, "30 Anson St. Built After Fire."
