Half-length portrait of Nathaniel Russell by Edward Savage ca. 1787, wearing red coat with large round gold buttons and white waistcoat and ruffled shirt. Seated in a dark red upholstered chair with brass tacks on crest rail. Right hand rests on a large book, left hand holds a quill pen with folded paper resting on a table in lower right corner. Red swag drapery with gold fringe in background.
