Description

Sabre leg chairs with accentuated scroll backs with panel backs above a turned horizontal splat. Caned seats. Arm chairs (58.21.2-3) have scroll arms on turned baluster supports. Each is entirely lacquered and decorated in gold in a chinoiserie fashion. Back panels with painted landscape scenes.

Overall condition of surface is poor, with signs of heavy wear evident to finish. Paint loss on crest rail, back splat, side stiles, knes and edges of arms. Major paint loss to back of legs, back of splat, back of side stiles, and back of front proper left leg. Seat caning is torn from frame. Proper left arm joint is loose at connection with back and with side seat rail. All orther joints apparent but secure. Parts Missing: None
