Sculpture has been positioned in only two places in the Art Gallery. The Center of the gallery from 1859 or whenever the sculpture arrived in Charleston from Italy, and then shifted in 1887 as indicated from receipts in Aiken Papers at the Charleston Museum. Evidence of early placement in center of room by tack pattern on floor. Sculpture was moved to west wall of gallery, where it remained until 1998 when it was moved by Fine Arts Express and examined by Shelley Reisman Paine. It is shown in this position in the 1958 HABS photo SC-269.
