8 Atlantic Street (Thomas Young House)Entry/Object ID
ATLANTIC.008.001Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1805. Thomas Young, the keeper of a boardinghouse on State Street, built this 2½ story, 2-bay, stuccoed single house in the early years of the 19th century. Although the structure retains its molded brick cornice, 9-over-9 windows, and scored stucco, numerous additions have been made in the 20th century, including the front wrought-iron balcony, east side entry tower, and various rear modifications. Even more extensive additions obscure the original wooden single house to the west at 10 Atlantic Street, constructed ca. 1769 by William Hinckley.
File contains brief handwritten description of the house (author and date not identified).Collection
