This 2½ story house just south of the College of Charleston survived plans to raze it for a new parking garage. It was moved to [72 Beaufain] and survived more than a decade without repairs. It even withstood Hurricane Hugo. Unfortunately, owner neglect caused the building's collapse. The house had existed in the 1790s and had beaded weatherboarding and 9-over-9 light windows. Still, it ranked the lowest score possible on the city's ranking of historic buildings. The Preservation Society made efforts to save the house.
