William Pate (working, mid to late nineteenth century) Engraving of Henry Clay New York 1802 Ink on paper Engraved: Published by William Pate 58 & 60 Fulton Street New York / Engraved according to Act of Congress in the year 1802 by R.L. Bacrus?....[illeg] The rest is faded and indistinguishable. Image depicting full figure of man standing wearing black waistcoat with tails, white shirt and black neckercheif, standing with with left hand on hip; behind him is chair having twisted and shaped arms, upholstered seat and cabriole legs with scroll feet, black coat os thrown over back of chair; right side having table with books and black cane with brass knob leaning on table; in molded wood frame with gilt inner border and ebonized outer border. Condition: Badly water damaged and discolored. Tear marks bottom center and upper center.
